What can you do?
People often resist changing their lives in any significant way, especially when asked to make changes that would lessen their impact on the planet. Americans in particular resist giving up their car and riding the bus, cutting down on their meat consumption, and living in smaller homes.
However, there are many things that are easy to change that, collectively, can make a big difference.
For example, what if everyone who buys a Starbuck's coffee in the morning used a reusable cup? How many paper cups and plastic lids are going into landfills every day? Remember, there is no such thing as 'throwing something away.' That plastic lid will be here for years after you are gone.
What's one small thing you could do to lessen your impact on the planet?

CANVAS SHOPPING BAGS, BABY! I've been using "Bring Yer Own" shopping bags at the grocery for years, and I still get the "what are these for?" look everytime I flop them up by the box guy.
Mr Bush could sign the Kyoto agreement, maybe?
(Sigh) If I really had that much influence over Mr. Bush, things would be a whole lot different around here!
Alternatively, on the day that the Kyoto Protocol took affect, Seattle's Mayor Nickels signed an initiative challenging the mayors of this nation's cities to take actions to reduce global warming. http://www.ci.seattle.wa.us/mayor/climate/
This again shows that individuals and local communities must take action in the absence of effective, intelligent leadership.
You need to try and get your hands on some of those Bush puppet strings or maybe a hand up his puppet ass.... eewww, maybe not the last one.
Glad you are blogging again. I thought you may have suffered a fate worse than vacation when your posts dried up.
